When I was 14, I started a photography business specializing in portraits. Since then, I’ve expanded my business to serve clients with branding and graphic design needs. When creating a personal branding suite for my business, I knew I wanted to make something that spoke true to who I am and what I do as a creative. So, I set out first with the most important aspect of any brand: a logo.
The vision behind the Abigail Mangum Creative logo was inspired by my love for the outdoors. I combined my initials (AM) into an abstract shape that resembles a waterfall or river, similar to the rivers where I spent my childhood. It’s the perfect combination of clean lines and organic shapes, which speaks directly to my design style and offers a preview of who I am.
From there, I expanded into a branding package and stationary suite.
Why did I choose these colors, you ask?
Red represents strength and empowerment. As a woman in design, it’s on me to demand a seat at the table and stick my foot in the door in a male-dominated field.
Pink represents the femininity that can be found in many of my designs. While it could be seen as a juxtaposition to the red, I see it as a force that creates balance and equilibrium for the red.
Teal represents nature and my passion for the outdoors. Much of my design work is inspired by the beautiful places I’ve been to and seen, and green has been a consistent color that has made its way into my work.
All three colors together create an unorthodox color palette that ties together the versatility and unconventionality of my brand.
